Today’s Picks from Leicester & Beverley

Beverley 2 30 FINE EXAMPLE (K Ryan) 3/1

I backed this horse yesterday evening when Mark Johnston’s Yorkee Mo Sabee was surprisingly installed as early favourite. Now Kevin Ryan’s 4YO is arguably rightly head of the market, but at 3/1 still represents a good price in a race he holds a great chance. He found some form before the yard was closed down after the virus threat emerged, and he should continue where he left off in a race with conditions to suit. His mark has even been dropped to below 70 again. The draw is not perfect on a tight track, but I’m hoping he can bounce out and race right on the pace as he likes to do. Ryan has had two runners since being given the all clear and both ran well at Ayr.

Leicester 7 40 MISS INGA SOCK (EJ Houghton) 3/1

I’m going against the market with this pick, but the bigger the drift the happier I am with the selection. With Indian Chief a N/R, it leaves us a small field of five. We’re likely to get a tactical affair, but I’m hoping it doesn’t simply turn into a sprint in the final furlongs. Since upped in trip the 5YO has been on a solid run of form under apprentice Georgia Cox. The favourite hasn’t raced over a mile for longer than a year, and on these occasions he didn’t get home anyhow. If the race is run with any sort of pace I’m confident Miss Inga Sock can get her head in front.
