Yesterday was another good day for HA; with Kenstone going in at double figures at Thirsk, before we were pipped in a photo with another double figure horse in Awesome Allan. Our third pick ran pretty disappointing, but the winner from that race will certainly go on to be a solid 2YO for Ralph Beckett. Today we have just a single pick. The cards at Chepstow, Yarmouth and Wetherby aren’t the greatest and picking apart Class 6’s with this rain about is not worth the hassle.
Chepstow 3.30 – ENGLISHMAN (M Bradley) 5/1
Just about still backable EW, Englishman comfortably makes it as HA’s bet of the day. The ground is already softening up at Chepstow and there is more rain forecast. Milton Bradley’s experienced sprinter goes best with some cut in the ground and has been running well in recent weeks. He bounced back to form at Windsor when winning as a 33/1 outsider and wasn’t disgraced in fourth at Goodwood more recently. Not many of his rivals are in form and most are sliding down the weights, including the favourite Munfallet. Englishman goes best early on in his campaigns and if the ground really cuts up he stays 7F and his stamina should also be an attribute. It’s far from the best day of racing, in quality and for the punter, but I’m confident on a return from Englishman.
