A Big Day For Tizzard, Not Just Off The Track

The King George was given a significant boost after the news that Coneygree wouldn’t run over the weekend had left the race build up with somehwhat of a damp note. The match up of the Tizzard stars, Cue Card and Thistlecrack, is a fascinating prospect that no one truly can predict right now. The match up at Kempton will throw Thistlecrack in the deep end, and we will quickly learn whether his class can show over fences with very little experience. On the track, £250,000 worth of a newly acquired Tizzard youngster made his rules debut at Hereford.

Run of the Day: Hereford

1 05 FINIAN’S OSCAR (C Tizzard) 11/4, C4 Novices Hurdle, 2M 5.5F, Soft (Good To Soft)

Labelled by the trainer as his most exciting youngster within the stable; the 250K purchase for the power owners the Potts, was very smooth and professional on his rules debut winning comfortably. The race will have some depth to it given time, and the odds-on favourite Acting Lass is held in high regards by trainer Harry Fry. He cruised up to take the lead on the bridle, whilst his rivals all toiled for more behind. The length of victory was officially only seven lengths, but doesn’t tell half the story as the front two pulled well, well clear. Undoubtedly a serious horse and prospect; he could still be anything, it is far too soon to say. He won’t be rushed and is clearly yet to be tested by much in his two runs. A nicely bred gelding, he is certainly another horse to look out for over the remainder of the season and into his 5YO campaign.
