With all the hype that surrounded Chepstow and a certain Thistlecrack on Tuesday, Wednesday was a much quieter affair with Fakenham the only track hosting any jumps action. Neil Mulholland’s yard has begun the season well and this continued with another juvenile winner.
3 10 FOOL TO CRY (N Mulholland) 7/4, C3 3YO Fillies Hurdle, 2M, Good
Fool To Cry is now 2/2 in front of the hurdles, after she started life as a race horse with a decent enough flat career. However, the step up in trip and being presented with the smaller obstacles has seen this 3YO filly improve further. She is clearly still a long-term project; but Fakenham has proven the raw ability is there and that Mulholland has a more than willing partner. It was another step up on her debut win and despite only facing a field of seven, there were a couple of other potentially nice youngsters in the field. She enjoyed the good ground and the only question for now is how she will cope when the more typical winter ground presents itself.
