Ascot took centre stage this Friday, with a number of hot handicaps combined with one Listed heat taken by Alyssa, a progressive filly for Ralph Beckett. The majority of races had decent fields and none were won at a coast, giving plenty of chances for punters to find some well priced winners. We picked out two for the day, with Musdam bringing home the bacon for us with an SP of 12/1.
3 1o SYMPOSIUM (W Haggas) 8/1, C2 H’Cap, 6F, Good
We have always liked this horse and have backed it many a time without much in the way of results until late. Her last three runs have seen drastic improvement, culminating in a smooth finishing win at Ascot in a valuable handicap. Connections have always held her in high regard and their patience paid off wonderfully, with the Royal Ascot Racing Club owning the filly. We’re only guessing but it makes sense to keep her in training for next season, and it looks as there is plenty of ability in her still to come. She did race off a basement weight today, but was mixing it with some proven 3YO boys and showed her qualities. The form of the race looks solid and William Haggas continues to fire in the winners.
