Wednesday was one of the quietest days yet this summer out on the track, with only a handful of cards failing to throw up anything that really took you back. It was just one of those days and it was admittedly a bit of a push to fill this section. Catterick, Musselburgh and Lingfield all held flat cards on the hottest day of the year so far, and Kempton followed up in the evening on the polytrack.
6 10 MOUNT MORIAH (R Beckett) 9/2, C5 2YO Maiden, 1M, Standard to Slow
Mount Moriah clearly benefitted significantly from his debut outing at Sandown and comfortably made all at Kempton, to rid of his maiden tag on only the second time of asking. The returning Fran Berry was confident upon his mount and made all, dominating the field from start to finish. It certainly wasn’t a smash and grab either, as he galloped a strong pace throughout, proving that he was simply too good. He will undoubtedly go further with time and Mount Moriah could prove to be a useful horse to head into next summer with.
