Tuesday brought about a steady days racing with some noteworthy winners, but little that really looked a class above their race, making this section not as simple as it can be. Ffos Las and Musselburgh began the day in the sun on the flat, whilst Chelmsford (AW) and Nottingham held evening cards. In Ireland, there was a quiet jumps card with plenty of newcomers on show.
6 20 MAAKAASIB (S Crisford) 11/10, C4 2YO Maiden, 6F, Standard
Simon Crisford has been in fine fettle with his 2Yos thus far and his strike rate is reflective of this. This vein of form continued today at Chelmsford, where Maakaasib took control of the race and dominated the final stages to win by over three lengths. The race was far from a top 2YO Maiden, but he did beat a well supported Mark Johnston 2YO, and emphatically. He travelled best throughout and has definitely built on his debut when beaten by John Gosden’s Ardad. Crisford’s 2YO holds some fancy entries towards the end of the summer and looks set to close his juvenile campaign in top company.
