The Curragh’s Irish Oaks festival came to a conclusion with an eight-race card, including two G2 races. Both of these were won by older horses as the 3YOs struggled to make a mark on the big stage. There was also racing at Redcar, where Richard Fahey continued where he left of yesterday and Stratford and Newton Abbot held an afternoon of summer jumping.

The 8YO went about his business assertively and put to the sword a decent G2 field, making it back to back victories in this race. The veteran has had a slow start to the summer, but has now managed back to back victories and connections will be hoping to keep up this run of results. The Phoenix Stakes looks on the cards, before a crack in the Sprint Cup at Haydock, but nothing is concrete as of yet. Only time will tell how strong this form will read, but nonetheless no one can knock the work of trainer Tom Hogan with this old timer.
