Wednesday brought us four cards on the flat, beginning with Catterick and Lingfield in the afternoon; before Sandown and Yarmouth raced in the evening. Between them they delivered some useful performances spread around the country and for midweek fixtures, it was most certainly a solid days racing all round.
1 50 JUMPING AROUND (W Haggas) 9/4, C5 2YO Fillies Maiden, 6F, Good to Firm
JUMPING AROUND has improved nicely for his debut and showed a good level of professionalism in her second outing, tracking the leaders throughout, before bursting through in the final furlong to stride clear by 4L. This was another big form boost to the 2YO race at Yarmouth on June 9, where many impressive winners have come from. William Haggas has publicly spoken of his disappointing start to the season, but things are slowly starting to fall into place and this has mostly begun due to some useful 2YOs beginning to win nicely.
6 05 JUST GLAMOROUS (R Harris) 5/4, C4 3YO Handicap, 5F, Good
This progressive 3YO demolished his opposition by 10L in a 5F sprint, making it n even more striking result and performance. He is a heavily raced 3YO, but in the last month or so he has really begun to find his feet. Heading into July he was only rated 70, and after this thrashing at Sandown his mark is most likely to be closer to the 90 mark.
8 50 JUSTICE LADY (D Elsworth) 9/4, C5 3YO Handicap, 5F, Good to Firm
JUSTICE LADY has been an expensive and frustrating horse to follow recently but came good on Wednesday evening. The small margin of victory is deceiving and David Elsworth’s 3YO won a lot more comfortably than it appears on paper. Shane Kelly gave him a clever ride and as soon as he was produced from behind the front runners there was only one winner. He proved far better than the rest and Elsworth will hope climbing the ratings will not halt the steady improvement.
